Get Set: Tennis Talk

UPDATE

A big thank you to Aidan Moran for his insightful presentation last Friday evening. Well in excess of 50 members enjoyed a very clear presentation on the psychological features common to successful sports and business people. During the second part Aidan applied these to the game of tennis and brought his own particular enthusiastic insight to this part. The section on focus was particularly pertinent and the concept of it being like a spotlight particularly clear.

We will not be surprised to see members reviewing prompt notes and breathing deeply during change-overs in important matches. It was great to see so many people in our club enjoying the event and themselves afterwards. The tennis committee will consider other similar events in the future.

Tennis in mostly mental. You win or lose the match before you even go out there

The Tennis Committee are delighted to offer an evening talk with Prof Aidan Moran in the club on Friday 16th November at 7.15pm. Aidan Moran is Professor of Cognitive Psychology and Director of the Psychology Research Laboratory in UCD with a keen interest in sports psychology. He is a consultant to many of Ireland’s leading professional sports performers and teams, and a former Official Psychologist to the Irish Olympic Squad. Most importantly, Aidan is an active tennis player in Landsdowne LTC. If anyone can help you with the mental aspects of your tennis game then this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Put it in your diary now. We will send one further reminder closer to the time. We hope there might be some tennis before the talk and perhaps some lemonades afterwards.
