The 21st holding of the Harry Crowe cup was held last week-end. The fixture, a mixed doubles match between Carrickmines and Fitzwilliam, was conceived and initiated, by Harry Crowe, to mark the introduction of female members to Fitzwilliam. A notable feature of the match this year was our team included Helen Johnstone who played in the inaugural fixture.
Congratulations to Helen who continues to represent and contribute to our club so well and in so many different ways. A lifelong participant and enthusiast of our sport and upto recently a member of the club committee. Helen is still involved and helps out with the “Enjoy Tennis” program in which her son, David is an enthusiastic participant. As well as representing the Carrickmines Ladies 1st team almost for ever, Helen played Senior International Tennis in the ITF tournaments and also in the “Four Nation’s”
